They were filming scenes for "The Greatest Show on Earth", in Madison Square Garden. Eddie went over and said something to Mr. DeMille, who said, "You're right!"... I asked what was wrong. He said, "Look at those girls riding the horses in matching costumes, and they're all wearing different shoes! They should have matched!!".

He wanted me to stay overnight, but I had just started a new job, and didn't want to miss any time. I was so glad to see him, though I thought he was pale. I never saw him again, but that was a thrill ... and he was still so funny.

They started working on "The Ten Commandments", and he didn't have much time. That's where he took sick, (and died?) DTC. He wrote one letter from there, (desert?) DJC, saying it was so hot where they were making the picture, that people were dropping like flies!!...
